The disgusting terrorist attack in Christchurch, New Zealand, greatly distressed me and affirmed something I've always known: that extremism which promotes or causes racism, hatred or violence must be opposed with relentless zeal and firmness.
Despite being a Christchurch Muslim, and a professor who teaches and publishes on Islam, I have stayed out of the public discussions on why this vile mass-murder occurred. I don't feel any need to act as some kind of community spokesman (which I am not), and I wasn't in Christchurch when the terrorism happened. I have therefore said nothing except for a few public posts on Facebook, which can be read HERE (posted 15 March 2019), HERE (16 March) and HERE (25 March).
